WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING BALM FOR BEARDS?

What are the benefits of using balm for beards?

There are several benefits to using masterfully crafted beard balms like we make here at Mad Viking, that go beyond conditioning the hair.

Whilst traditional styling products aim to keep your beard looking sleek and styled, they also typically focus on one aspect of effective beard care. Beard Balm, by contrast, is made for total beard health. That's right you can get away with just using beard balm and everything will be fine. It just depends on your beard type and skin condition.

Let's take a look at what Beard Balm is, how it differs from beard oil, how to use it, and some of the most important benefits you can expect from using a balm for your beard.

What is Beard Balm?

Beard balm is a conditioner that is made to moisturize and style your beard. It contains ingredients like carrier oils, essential oils, and butters that help to nourish and protect your beard. The same way you moisturize your skin, the oils in a good quality beard balm will penetrate through the hair follicles and ensure that all the hair is conditioned.

Some of these ingredients will also give your beard a natural shine or matte finish that makes it look healthy. Beard Balm has been carefully formulated to have just enough hold to help shape and hold stray hairs into place without being too waxy or sticky.

Beard balms are made from conditioning ingredients that work in much the same way as traditional, leave-in conditioners do on your scalp. They have been designed not only to maintain itch-free beards but help protect it from damage too.

How is balm different than Beard Oil?

Beard oil is a leave-in conditioner that contains ingredients like carrier oils, essential oils, and fragrances to hydrate the hair. Beard oil is usually made with all-natural ingredients or essential oils. It is also absorbed by the skin underneath your beard which gives you moisturized facial hair.

Most men's bodies are not capable of producing enough natural sebum to nourish their beards, which makes it necessary for bearded men to use beard oil and balm daily.

Beard balm is different from beard oil in that it has beeswax as an emulsifier or thickening agent. High-quality beard care companies also use the addition of natural butters to act as a natural skin and hair conditioner.

What is Beard Balm Made of?

Beard Balm is a combination of natural butters, waxes, and oils. Mad Viking's original, scent-free formula contains conditioning Shea Butter, nourishing Cocoa Butter, protective Jojoba Oil, Avacado Oil, Hempseed Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Vitamin E Oil, and moisturizing Beeswax to help you create any look you want. Scented versions of our beard balm include different essential oils and fragrances offering a nice smell and adding a layer of personality and style to it.

These ingredients will tame your flyaway hairs, define your beard stubble, or give it that soft & glowing shine - all without weighing it down or making it greasy.  The perfect balm should soften your beard, encourage and nourish hair growth and leave a nice shine to the surface of your beard.

So What are the benefits of using Beard Balm?

Prevent Split Ends:

Split Ends form when the strands become damaged and separated from each other, often because of external factors like excessive brushing or exposure to harsh weather.  This means that your beard hairs are no longer tightly woven together (the way they should be) but instead split at different lengths.

So be gentle with your beard brush and focus on brushing it downwards rather than upwards. Applying Beard Balm to moisturize, condition, and keep the hairs smooth, which works to strengthen hair strands and help prevent split ends.

Stops Itchy beards:

If you're one of the millions of men who suffer from dry skin, allergies, an itchy beard, or work in harsh weather conditions, then you understand how annoying beard itch can be and Beard Balm is for you.

By softening and conditioning the hair roots and skin, irritation is drastically reduced if not completely eliminated in most cases.

Keep your face happy and healthy with Beard Balm.

Kill The Beardruff:

Beardruff is beard dandruff that occurs when your beard's natural oils mix with dirt and sweat to form a scaly, itchy buildup on the skin under your beard.  This makes the roots of your hair absorb too much moisture and can cause uncomfortable irritation and itchiness. The best way to combat this is to nourish the skin beneath your beard. You do this by applying a beard balm.

Tar-based beard products, such as those used to treat psoriasis or dandruff, can also provide relief from dry skin under the beard.   But these treatments are often hard to wash out completely and their residue can damage fragile hair fibers.

Beard Balm is specially formulated with ingredients like Shea Butter, Beeswax, and Essential Oils that not only nourish the skin under your beard but moisturize the hair follicles too. It absorbs into the pores to condition and rehydrates dry facial hairs, relieving itchiness and irritation caused by dandruff, psoriasis, and dry skin.

Improved skin condition:

The vitamins and essential oils in balms are incredible at delivering nutrients deep into skin tissue, giving you healthier skin overall. Not only that but they also reduce inflammation which is great for people who suffer from psoriasis or dry skin (which causes the beard to flake and itch).

Soften your beard:

Beard Balm has a softening effect on all types of hair, but especially those thick & coarse hairs that grow under the chin. It coats each hair and works its way into the follicle, providing essential nutrients necessary for a healthy, soft beard.

Shiny beard:

One of the main benefits of using balm is the way it enhances shine in your facial hair & gives you a healthy glow.

The many oils in Beard Balm are packed with vitamins that help to soften and promote healthy hair growth - which results in a shiny, great-looking beard.

Improved control:

By locking in moisture and delivering nutrients to the hair follicles Beard Balm gives you much more control over your facial hair, which makes it easier to manage the appearance of your beard. Plus, Beard Balm is flexible enough to allow for various styles of beard or mustache without weighing down your beard or causing flaking.

Protection against harsh conditions:

Dehydration and dry air are the main causes of split ends, beardruff, and breakage in facial hair. Beard Balm uses ingredients like Shea Butter and Beeswax to create a moisture barrier on the surface of the skin and within the hairs themselves.

Beard Balm is your best friend this fall (and winter)! Keep it in your pocket and make sure you apply it after washing your face or taking a shower to lock in that moisture. You'll notice the difference right away, I swear!

How Do I apply Beard Balm?

First, work an ample amount into your palms and massage it between your hands to melt it down. This will allow for a more even & consistent application.

Your body heat softens the balm's natural butters which allows them to sink into each strand of hair. This ensures that you're nourishing the entire length of each hair strand reducing the need for trimming and making your beard less prone to split ends.

Then, run your fingers through your beard to evenly distribute the balm from root to tip. Take care of the delicate skin under your beard by rubbing a small amount onto your fingers before applying. Be sure not to forget the neckline and cheeks!

Beard Balm is a hard balm that goes on slightly waxy but melts into the skin quickly, so you'll only need a small amount for it to sink in and do its magic!

Style your beard as desired with a soft-bristled brush or a wooden beard comb and you're good to go!

In Conclusion

When you use balm regularly, your skin will be healthier, your face will feel more comfortable and less dry throughout the day.

When split ends are not present in the hairs themselves, they become far less likely because there's no breakage happening within the strands - meaning your beard remains healthy-looking with no need for trimming as often.

Using Beard Balms, is a great way to keep your beard healthy and looking its best.

Beard Balm is easy to apply and provides much-needed moisture that will leave your skin feeling soft and supple as well as moisturizing your facial hair without weighing down or irritating it.

Beard Balm is an essential part of any beard care routine for healthy beard growth.

I run my balm under hot water to get it very soft so that it spreads easier and more evenly. Then I use a hot beard brush to straighten it. Is this a healthy way to maintain my beard?

Can you use beard oil and beard balm daily if you don’t wash your beard daily?
